This is a broad acting antibiotic, the 250 mg version consists of 200 mg amoxicillin combined with 50 mg clavulanic acid { synulox }. There are other strengths available and there are a number of trade names under which it appears worldwide such as Synulox and Clavamox and Augmentin. It is an antibiotic which is also used extensively in people.
Concise Information
Drug : amoxicillin / clavulanic acid combination.
Uses : Useful in a range of disease situations such as urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, soft tissue infections such as abscesses, skin disease and dental disease.
Dose rate : For dogs and cats 12.5 mg/per kg of your animal’s body weight given twice daily for five to seven days. Resistant infections may need a longer course.
Other info : I have personally found this antibiotic to be safe and effective but as with all drugs be aware that rare hypersensitivity { allergic } reactions are possible. This is not a good drug to use in rabbits guinea pigs or other rodents.
