Just another idea for anyone struggling to give thier cat felimazole,

The whiskers or store brand treat sticks, I break a bit off say about 2 or 3cms long and split it open, put the tablet in and then squeeze it closed again then give it my cat. Its worth a try for others, it never fails for me.

My cat is also on matacam for arthritis in a gel fluid form, I also use the pet sticks for that, I break off about 3 or 4 pieces enough to fit all the gel inbetween the splits and he takes them all no problem

Hi My cat we think is 16 is taking Felimazole. I can manage to get the tablets over and have mastered the knack, but no one else can. This means that when we go on holiday we have no alternative but to let her go a week without the tablets. So far this has been ok as our neighbour looks after her but she is not capable of giving the tablet. We are now going to go away for two weeks and I am not sure what to do in terms of leaving her without a tablet for two weeks.

Well done on finding an alternative medication you dont say how long your cat was taking the homeopathic medication after she was diagnosed with hyperthyriodisum but wish I had been able to find this for our cat and given it a go instead of the dreaded felimazole and as you say subjecting him to the tablet terror which our cat never got over the stress of taking it.
Maybe this is another way forward which neads to be looked at and taken forward by vets what do other think or know of this alternative treatment.
Glad you posted this for others to know/think about Ranuka and look into. ?????

I had similar problems trying to get my female 17 yr old to take felimazole, she would vomit, she was still losing weight. In the end I found an alternative herbal Canadian medicine in drop dosage into her food and homeopathy tabs crushed in her water. She had her good days and bad days. I just know I could not have put her through the terror of tablets each day and her being upset with and vomiting. She became very week and was euthanized on Tuesday, I still don't know if I did the right thing or not by changing her medication. But lets hope with the increase of hyperthyroidism in female cats friendly/stress free
medication will become available.
